Here’s an article that a friend shared this AM. Basically, Paradox Interactive, who make computer games like Crusader Kings and Europa Universalis, have bought White Wolf – including the IP to all of their games, like the entire World of Darkness line.
Prior to this CCP, who make the MMO Eve Online had purchased White Wolf and were developing an MMO based on Vampire: The Masquerade which was never completed due to (from what I can remember) severe mismanagement on CCP’s part.
The reaction I’ve been seeing so far is hopefulness and exuberance. I’m not familiar with Paradox, but apparently people who are think its a very good match. White Wolf is to operate as a distinct entity and brand under their umbrella. I don’t know what this means for Onyx Path, who have put out some great material in the past years. Hopefully, they’ll be allowed to retain their current licensing so they can produce material for the tabletop WoD games. I was a fan of White Wolf years ago and have bought a few Onyx Path products as well.
