Thomas Ligotti & The Horror of the Unreal

Thomas_Ligotti

Here’s a nice article for those of you who are interested in horror or strange fiction. I’m not familiar with Thomas Ligotti, but his work seems right up my alley. Some of his themes are similar to Lovecraft’s and in general, the tone of the stories makes me think of the old anthology series, Borderlands, from White Wolf. Those were some of the best written and most disturbing tales I’ve ever read.

His ideas on doom, sense of dread and atmosphere, and the way he psychoanalyzes mental derangement and the just-slightly-out-of-touch denizens of society is interesting. For you RPGers, I’m sure there are ideas in his writing which would translate wonderfully into Ravenloftian or World of Darkness stories.
