Saga (1-18) [2012 – 2014]

I finished reading the first run of Saga, from Image, over the weekend. Its an 18-issue series written by Brian K. Vaughan and illustrated by Fiona Staples, and it was amazing. The series is simultaneously an adventure, a love story and tale about acceptance dressed in the trappings of what’s being called sci-fantasy these days. There’s magic and technology, starships and swords, cosmic births, love, betrayal, secrets and war. It has crass scenes that rival Preacher along with endearing ones like in Sweet Tooth – both stories which I love. Last night, the analogy came to me that it could even be looked at as a cross between Star Wars and The Princess Bride.
